Favorite Inspirational Read:Little Princes

This is on the Member Development Book Club list for potential reads.  Whether you pick it up for extra hours or just because, you won’t be disappointed by the heartwarming adventure this young man takes on his mission to reunite trafficked children with their families. Funny, emotional, and informative, Connor Grennan shows that one unintentional experience can change not only your own life, but also those of others in a dramatic fashion.

Favorite Nerdy-Cool:soundadvice

The Sound Advice Project was designed to help parents give a message to their teenagers about abstaining from drug use.  The idea is to take a sound wave and turn it into a custom bracelet.  Geek-tastically fun.

Favorite Gut-Buster:potato skin mac n cheese

Homemade mac ‘n cheese, flavored like a loaded baked potato, then topped with loaded potato skins. Shut. Up.

Favorite Non-Gut Buster:tomato-mozzarella-arugula-tower

Because so many of us make New Years resolutions that involve health and weight related issues (some 38% of resolutions made!), here’s a lovely and light salad of arugula, sliced tomato, and fresh mozzarella that makes it easy to stick to a healthier diet.

Favorite Surprise Ending:

Just wait for it…

Favorite Financial for the New Year:52 week

If you’re looking for an easy way to save this year, try the 52 Week Money Challenge.  You never save more than $52 in any one week and end up pocketing $1,378.00 by the end of the year!  Now add compounding interest onto that…and do that for 5 years…and then invest it in other products…

(There is a slight calculation error on weeks 48/49, but it ends up correct at the end)

Favorite Cup o’ Soup for Season:tomato pepper bisque mozz balls 500x watermark

Here’s a recipe for a creamy homemade tomato and red pepper soup with huge ooey-gooey panko breadcrumb-coated chunks of mozzarella that just sort of hang and drip into the soup. Yes, please.

Favorite Volunteer Match:servlet

This is one of the best ways to get connected to various organizations and non-profits throughout the city that are looking for volunteers.

Favorite Laugh Till You Cry:dog-carrying-gift-costume

Here is a list of 10 of the most interesting and visually stunning festivals worldwide. Go ahead: add this to your bucket list!

Favorite “Screw this diet, I’m having dessert!”:Kit-Kat-Cheesecake-Bars-from-Bakers-Royale

Thick graham crackers crust topped with Kit Kats layered under a luscious chocolate cheesecake then all topped with a chocolate glaze. Whosoever makes me this will win my heart.

Favorite Budget-Friendly Fun:things-to-do-instead-of-spending-money

It feels like this list of “56 Things To Do Instead of Spending Money” was written specifically for AmeriCorps members! #25 is my personal favorite, but there are lots of great tips for the frugal side of all of us.

Favorite Awww!: enhanced-buzz-28165-1326834238-0

And on that note: Have a great weekend!
